Storm, the 10-metre tall mythical goddess of the sea, will be in Alloa town centre on Saturday, August 21, as part of a 10-day tour celebrating Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters.
The puppet, created by Edinburgh-based visual theatre company Vision Mechanics, was first unveiled as part of Celtic Connections 2020.
Made entirely out of recycled and natural resources, the 500kg puppet seeks to celebrate oceans and coastlines, raising awareness of the crucial role they play in mitigating climate change.
The creation is aided by eight puppeteers and will awaken on August 21 by the shore of the Forth before making her way to the town centre, taking in the Ochils along the way.
It’s sure to be a memorable day for Alloa, with performances from the Bowmar Pipe Band, the Sauchie Community Choir, the Saltire Steel Band, Craig Miller and Leona Hens. There will be a special market too, with Froglife, RSPB, the Forth Valley Men’s Shed and more participating.
Joining instructions can be found in this document. Please arrive in plenty of time to find a space to watch from.
